Caps Care Casino Night & Auction

This past Sunday, the Capitals hosted their first annual charity casino and auction event at the Hilton Mark Center in Alexandria, VA. The event went off without a hitch and raised more than $285,000 for local charities as well as the Haiti relief effort. In addition to the 500 plus people who attended the event, players adorned black tuxedo's and red ties to commemorate the evening. In addition to casino games including blackjack, craps, roulette, Texas hold ‘em and a chance to win a Mercedes-Benz, the night consisted of three silent auctions as well as public auctions. Auction items included a table tennis match with players, a round of golf with team owner Ted Leonsis, and a hockey clinic administered by players, including Alex Ovechkin. The highest item bid on was a cocktail party with head coach Bruce Boudreau and the rest of the team staff at Boudreau's home. The prize netted $24,000 towards charity.
